Art Sherwyn 2018 Mask Workshop
In 2018 Art Sherwyn, a local artist and supporter of the Cambria Scarecrow Festival, brought his talent and skills to lead a community workshop.
As an artist, Art has been a prolific plein aire artist, having painted landscapes in a wide range of locations over the span of the last forty years. In his studio he creates contemporary works of art, steadfastly exploring a wide range of techniques and processes along the way.
His works have won numerous awards and hang in many private collections, and museums.
Art encouraged the participants to explore the idea of expanding the scope of what might be considered an addition to the Cambria Scarecrow Festival. He asked them to learn a bit about masks and their importance in different cultures. With that, the group came up with their own designs for their own masks. They then created the masks, painted and embellished them, and built armatures for them. The results were stunning!
