Do you like being first and exploring new things? Then plan your visit for the weekend the scarecrows get installed and see them first!
On Friday, schedule an early getaway and arrive in time for a nice dinner. Watch the sunset at Moonstone Beach Bar and Grill or listen to the live music at one of Cambria’s pubs or enjoy international cuisine at Robins or discover your own special dining secret hideaway.
Get up early on Saturday and have a cup of coffee as you watch the sun rise and plan a day of exploration. Are you an active explorer? Then check out one of the many bike routes mapped out on Cycle Central Coast. More of a modest explorer? Plan a long walk on the beautiful Fiscalini Ranch Preserve. If your exploring is of a different sort, see how many wineries you can visit in San Simeon and Cambria along the Pacific Coast Wine Trail.
Then why not cap the evening by exploring your cultural side. It’s the last weekend for The Golden Age, a drawing room comedy by A. Gurney being presented at the jewel box of a theater called the Pewter Plough Playhouse.
Sunday? Well, now’s your time to check out the scarecrows. October 1 is the deadline for locals to display their scarecrows for judging. Do your own evaluation. Park in the East village and walk along Burton and Main Street to check our your favorites. Then drive to the West Village, park, and walk along Main Street from Cambria Drive to Highway 1 to see another great assortment. Want more? Take a drive along Moonstone Beach and head north to San Simeon to cap off your Sunday exploration by seeing the scarecrow soccer team next to San Simeon Beach Bar and Grill.
