10 Tips For an Enjoyable Scarecrow Experience
- Scarecrows will be displayed throughout Cambria in the parts we call the East Village, West Village and along Moonstone Drive. They will also be displayed along both frontage roads in San Simeon with the largest display at the lot next to San Simeon Beach Bar and Grill.
- Use crosswalks whenever possible and be mindful of people in cars who may be distracted by the scarecrows.
- If driving around to view the scarecrows, please don’t stop in the middle of the street.
- Besides street parking, public parking lots can be found in East Village between Main Street and Center Street and in West Village on the corner of Cornwall Street and Sheffield Street.

- Don’t miss the viewing of the documentary Something To Crow About showing at the Cambria Center of Arts at 1 pm and 3 pm from Thursday through Sunday until October 31, 2024. This 40 minute view of what happens behind the scenes to bring this festival to life is free but donations are accepted.

Before you head to Cambria going North on Highway 1, take a slight detour and go the Harmony Winery where you’ll see the first of many scarecrows.
From Highway 1, take the Main Street exit at the light. Continue down Main Street past the Old Schoolhouse. Take a short detour up Santa Rosa Creek road to visit the scarecrow at the high school and at Parr Collective at Stolo Vineyards.
Return to Main Street where you will find yourself in the East Village. The scarecrows start on Main Street in front of the Creekside Inn and continue along on both sides of Main Street towards the West Village.
Find a parking spot along the street and make your way back to the Cambria Ambulance station where you’ll be greeted by Pari-Medic and his big heart. As you venture west up Main Street, check out both sides of the street for scarecrows. There are also parking lots Between Center and Main Street a bit further up Main.
Be sure to take a detour to Burton Drive to see scarecrows on both sides of the street. Hop over to the Cambria Dog Park and visit our Giddy Up Girl.
At the Chevron station, continue west on the left side of Main Street where you will pass more scarecrows as you journey west to the Cambria Center of Performing Arts (CCAT). You can go back to your car or walk to the (CCAT) to see some of our out-of-this world CambrAliens. Our 4-armed Dill the Pickleballer is at the pickle ball court next to the CCAT.
Walk west over the bridge and enjoy our Junior Scarecrow display. Local children created these fabulous dragons at our 2024 children’s art workshop. You will also see scarecrows on the other side of Main Street. Take a short walk up the hill on Knollwood Drive. Check out the Cookie Croc (in front of the Cookie Crock), the Invisible Man (by The Spot), and KISSed in Space (at Luigi’s). (Refer to the map for more specific directions.)
Once you get down the hill, continue your walk or return to your car to go to the Santa Rosa Catholic Church to view the Picnic Cambria Style display. If it is not Sunday you can park in there parking lot get out and enjoy the sweet display of the woodland Animals of Cambria having a picnic watched over by Saint Francis who is joined by more furry friends.
Walk a little farther west to Cambria Drive, make a left and check out our Welcoming Crowmmittee with a display of more traditional scarecrows along with crows decorated by our local children. Don’t miss taking a photo at the fun photo board!
Once you are in West Village, if you are driving, you can park along the road or turn right on Cornwall Street to park in the parking lot. Make your way back to Main Street and walk up and down both sides of the street until you make your way down just past the Shell Station. There you will see our large S Fun N’ Games display.
Get back to your car and go west to the intersection of Main and Windsor. Cross Highway 1 and turn right on Moonstone Drive. You can park at Moonstone Park or on Moonstone Drive. Walk down Moonstone on the right side where you will see – you guessed it! more scarecrows. Our wonderful El Encanto display is spread out in front of the Pacifica Collection of hotels and are a must see.
When you get back to your car, take the 5 mile drive north to San Simeon. The two main roads of San Simeon run parallel on either side of Highway 1. Park on either side and walk around to see scarecrows, but make sure to check out the Scarecrow Academy display in the lot next to San Simeon Bar and Grill. Then head on a little further north to the Hearst Winery to see another.
