10 Tips For an Enjoyable Scarecrow Experience
- 1 Scarecrows will be displayed in Harmony, throughout Cambria in the parts we call the East Village, West Village and along Moonstone Drive. They will also be displayed along both frontage roads in San Simeon with the largest display at the lot next to San Simeon Beach Bar and Grill.
- Use crosswalks whenever possible and be mindful of people in cars who may be distracted by the scarecrows.
- If driving around to view the scarecrows, please don’t stop in the middle of the street.
- Besides street parking, public parking lots can be found in East Village between Main Street and Center Street and in West Village on the corner of Cornwall Street and Sheffield Street.
- Check out the map at CambriaScarecrows.com to find all the scarecrows as well as available parking locations. You can also download the Visit Cambria app for their map.
- Don’t miss the Scarecrows in Focus: A Photographic Retrospective at the Cambria Center of Arts Tuesday through Sunday until October 31, 2025. Five local photographers involved with the festival since its start will be sharing their favorite photographs of the festival. Also there will be a viewing of the documentary Something To Crow About airing at 1 pm and 3 pm throughout the month. This 40 minute view of what happens behind the scenes to bring this festival to life is free but donations are accepted.

As you head to Cambria from the south, take a short detour to Harmony Valley Creamery to look at Edgar Allen Poe.
Return to Highway 1 and turn right onto Main Street. Drive to the East Village. The scarecrows start on Main Street in front of the Creekside Inn and continue along on both sides of Main Street towards the West Village. Don’t miss the Cambria Ambulance station where you’ll be greeted by Pari-Medic and his big heart!
Find a parking spot along the street. As you venture west up Main Street, check out both sides of the street for scarecrows. There are also parking lots Between Center and Main Street a bit further up Main Street.
Be sure to take a detour to Burton Drive to see scarecrows on both sides of the street.
Head to the Cambria Dog Park and visit our favorite dog Abby.
At the Chevron station, continue west on the left side of Main Street where you will pass more scarecrows as you journey west to the Cambria Center of Performing Arts (CCA). Upon passing the Bluebird, you can rest a moment next to the Prince of Darkness. After that, go back to your car or walk to the (CCA) to see Sunny and Cher and also some of the cutest little dogs you’ll ever come across. They were done by local children in one of the art classes the CCA offers.
Walk west over the bridge and head to the bus stop where you will encounter some local Cambria critters.
Take a short walk up the hill on Knollwood Drive. Check out Fruitisha at The Spot, and Ms Penelope Pumpkin at Luigi’s. (Refer to the map for more specific directions.)
Once you get down the hill, continue your walk or return to your car to go to the Santa Rosa Catholic Church. If it is not Sunday you can park in their parking lot get out and enjoy the sweet display of Saint Francis who is joined by his furry friends.
Walk a little farther west to Cambria Drive, make a left and check out The Sleuth with her Range Rover and our Autumn Mobile with Zoomie and friends all headed to San Simeon. Make sure to take a photo at the fun photo boards we have there!
Cross the street to check out the scarecrows in front of the Vets Hall. Wander down past the Fresnel lens to have a conversation with Mr Ed and WS Howdy.
Once you are in West Village, if you are driving, you can park along the road or turn right on Cornwall Street to park in the parking lot. Once you’re on, Main Street and walk up and down both sides of the street until you make your way down just past the Shell Station. There you will see our large not-to-be-missed Fun N’ Games display. When you’re there, don’t forget to look up into the trees!
But you’re not done yet! There are over 50 more wonderful scarecrows left to see on Moonstone Drive and in San Simeon!
Get back to your car and go west to the intersection of Main and Windsor. Cross Highway 1 and turn right on Moonstone Drive. At El Colibri, Shamel Shell Crow will greet you. Continue on. You can park at Moonstone Park or on Moonstone Drive. Walk down Moonstone on the right side where you will see – you guessed it! – more scarecrows. Along with individual scarecrows, you will enjoy our very own “Crow”chella Music Festival display. In front of the five Pacifica Collection hotels, you’ll find Taylor, Billie Pumpkin Pielish, KISS, just to name a few. Of course their fans will be out in force as well.
When you get back to your car, take the 5 mile drive north to San Simeon. The two main roads of San Simeon run parallel on either side of Highway 1. Park on either side and walk around to see scarecrows on the side of the roads. When you’re on San Simeon Avenue, take a quick walk to the Friends of the Elephant Seal’s office to check out Elvis.
On the other side of the highway, you will encounter the Fantastical Cove display in the lot next to San Simeon Bar and Grill. Under the watchful eye of the Happi-Ness Monster, you’ll discover imaginary creatures, unique mushrooms and whimsical gnomes hanging out together.
