A chance to learn from artists and build your scarecrow building skills
The Great Cambria Scarecrow Recycle Challenge
(aka Make it in a Day Workshop):
Make a scarecrow out of recycled materials in ONE day? No previous scarecrow-making experience necessary. Lots of experienced scarecrow makers will be on hand to help you. These photos will give you an idea of the kinds of creations you can make when you let your imagination run wild. What you will need: We ask that you collect whatever you think you can use to make a scarecrow and bring it to the workshop.
* Plastic milk cartons can be used as heads
* Dryer exhaust ducts might be arms
* Ironing boards make sturdy bodies
* Straw brooms, rakes, or shovels may be cute faces
You might think of something to do with cans, plastic containers and trays, hangers, corks, discarded toys or bicycle parts, tomato cages, umbrellas, or other non-breakable junk. We have a limited supply of some of these items that will be available on a “whoever-grabs-it-first” basis.
Supplies we have for you to use: Armatures to build on, tools, pool noodles, glue, tape, paint, stuffing material, raffia, an assortment of fabric, some apparel, and other traditional scarecrow-making supplies.
